The Homebrewer's Almanac, Scratch's Book on Brewing with Farmed and Foraged Ingredients, Ava
We are proud to announce that September 13th is the release date of our book, The Homebrewer's Almanac, a full-color tome with 75 photographs that includes tips and recipes for brewing with farmed and foraged ingredients.
The book grew naturally out of techniques we honed while making the unique beer we brew at Scratch. There are few other books on the market that give brewers a complete idea of how to incorporate ingredients other than water, malt, hops, and yeast, using modern brewing methods. We explore how to use basil, honeysuckle, dandelion, hickory and over 30 other plants with recipes for each, including advice on harvesting and preserving plants for use throughout the year. Each chapter details the historical use of plants in medicine, food, or beverage, with descriptions of techniques we utilize at our brewery and how those methods can be adapted for home use.
The book is published by Countryman Press and will be available around the country on September 13th, but you can pre-order now on Amazon! We will have more information about the book, including a release party at Scratch as we near the fall.
